We landed at Maggie Brown in Ft. Greene Brooklyn, a narrow dining spot, with an eclectic design, and (sigh of delight) exposed brick walls. While parties of 3 or more had a brief wait, we were quickly seated at the bar where we had full view of the liquor selection, keenly stocked with bourbon and whiskey. Myself and my date, Derek Kwong both love whiskeys, but Sunday morning is all about vodka. His greyhound and my bloody mary were both generously poured and neither of our dishes disappointed. Mine was corned beef hash, obviously hacked from a real hunk of deliciously brined meat, and Derek had, get this, BRIE PANCAKES!!! I rarely trust a chef to get the ratio right when they promise cheese in their pancake, but whoever was in the kitchen today really new how to deliver. We were served up three, hot off the griddle, pieces of brie laden heaven.
The bartender was chatty and I worried that some of the other patrons may be a little unsatisfied with his service, but when I get to yuck it up with the talented and charming Mr. Kwong, time flies and the booze flow.
Delicious, charming, and cheap.
